Teeth-In-An-Day | Montgomery AL
TEETH-IN-A- DAY is a revolutionary concept providing patients with fully functioning teeth on dental implants in a single procedure that takes a few hours. This technology was developed by Nobel Biocare and utilizes collaboration between both the restorative doctor and the oral surgeon. This merging of knowledge and experience achieves not only increased safety, but also a more precise implant placement.
Typical patients find themselves with unaesthetic teeth in poor repair that may be mobile from significant bone loss. Few teeth may remain or none at all. This is known as an end stage dentition. At this point repair of the existing teeth becomes futile. In the long run a more cost effective and time efficient solution is removing all the remaining teeth then replacing them with a implant retained restoration. This is analogous to spending money on a old car that is in constant need of repair. At some point it becomes prudent to replace the car to save not only time on repairs but also money.
To find out if you are a candidate a CT scan is taken of the your jaw bone. This CT scan allows for the generation of a three-dimensional model of your jaw that can then be used with virtual surgical planning software such as NobelClinician to plan the implant placement. This plan is then shared with your restorative dentist digitally to confirm the number and placement of implants custom tailored to your unique anatomy.
Once an agreed upon plan has been formulated you will be brought in for final consultation to discuss your options and review the ct scan. If you are a candidate your restorative dentist will then take records of your existing teeth and bite to fabricate a temporary set of teeth. These teeth will serve as a temporary over the 3-4 month healing period of the implants. The restorative dentist will also discuss what material you would like your final set of teeth to be constructed of.
The day of surgery Dr. Nizam will remove all of your remaining teeth and place 4-6 implants while you are asleep under anesthesia. As long as the implants achieve enough stability at the time of placement your temporary teeth will be attached that day. Over the ensuing 3-4 months you will have the opportunity to evaluate the shade, shape, and position of your temporary teeth. If there is a particular feature you are unhappy with this can be changed in your final set.
Three to four months later Dr. Nizam will check the implants and confirm they have healed into the bone. At this point he will send you back to your restorative dentist who will begin the process of making your final set of teeth. This often takes a few appointments especially if changes are desired. However, the entire time you will have your temporary set of teeth. Upon delivery of the final set of teeth you will have a beautiful smile that you can enjoy for years!
