Microneedling in Montgomery AL
Microneedling with SkinPen
Microneedling treatment with SkinPen® by Bellus Medical is clinically proven to improve the appearance of facial acne scars for people aged 22 and above in all skin types. At The Medspa at Alabama Surgical Arts in Montgomery, we have partnered with the only FDA-approved microneedling device on the market to bring you the best available treatment.
SkinPen triggers the skin’s remodeling process by creating thousands of tiny micro-injuries in the dermis, generating new collagen without causing scar tissue formation.
Procedures typically take only 30 minutes, depending on the size treated and the desired results. Due to their noninvasive nature, microneedling sessions usually require little to no downtime for patients. Our patients love the benefits provided by SkinPen, especially when done with the extra PRF (protein-rich fibrin) booster.
How Does Microneedling Work?
The SkinPen® microneedling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodeling of collagen and elastin.
There are three phases to the wound repair process:
Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue.
Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, temporary (type III) collagen, and elastin, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Phase III: Remodeling. The wound has been replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels. The type III collagen in the newly formed tissue is replaced with stronger type I collagen, which can contract to create a tightening or “shrink wrap” effect on the skin.
The results? Clinically proven improvements in the appearance of facial acne scars for people aged 22 and up.
Microneedling is your new best friend when it comes to fighting the appearance of facial acne scars. With SkinPen®, you can see the impressive results demonstrated by the clinical study and the safety of the only FDA-cleared device available.

What Boosters Can be Added to Microneedling?
We have several options to take your microneedling treatment to the next level
- PRF Booster: Most people have heard of Kim Kardashian’s Vampire facial at this point. She underwent microneedling with PRP (protein-rich plasma), which is harvested by a lab draw, spun down, and reinfused into your skin during the microneeding session. We have found that PRF is quickly taking place instead of using PRP, which contains fewer growth factors and stem cells due to its double spin. It releases the growth factors over time, which means it could have longer-term benefits. The growth factors stimulate the stem cells, which improves collagen and elastin in the skin. This has been a great method to help our patients take microneedling to the next level.
- Klardie Boosters: Alabama Surgical Arts now carries the highly coveted medical-grade Korean skin booster KLARDIE, available in two options. They can be combined for even more of a treat.
- Cellup Dia Solution: This solution addresses skin concerns such as lack of moisture, loss of skin elasticity, and troubled skin.
Active Ingredients : Hyalusome™, CELLUP complex™ - CELLUP Complex™️ : Complexed effective ingredients containing vitamins, amino acids, minerals, EGF, PDRN, peptides, and plant callus extract, which can help improve skin density and elasticity.
- Cellup Ruby Solution: This product is for skin concerns such as dark and dull skin, freckles and blemishes, pigmentation, and redness.
Active Ingredients : Hyalusome™, RADIANCE complex™ - RADIANCE complex™: This complex, effective ingredient contains glutathione, niacinamide, tranexamic acid, and ascorbyl glucoside, which can help improve pigmentation, melasma, and blemishes for skin brightening and radiance.
- Revision Boosters: Ask your esthetician to customize your microneedling sessions by adding Revision Boosters. You can choose from many options, such as adding hyaluronic acid, peptides, and vitamin C. Either way, your skin will be glowing.
What are the Benefits of SkinPen Microneedling?
A plan for optimal results. A consultation with a skin specialist will determine your needs. Based on your individual goals, we may recommend a course of procedures. Maintenance of the procedure might require multiple treatments.
A comfortable procedure. We will apply a topical numbing agent to the treatment area before each treatment.
A short procedure time. The treatment will likely take 30 minutes to one hour.
A mild sensation. Most of our patients report feeling only the slight vibration of SkinPen during the procedure.
Minimal post-procedure effects. The skin will appear slightly pink to red immediately post-procedure, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn for 24-48 hours.
Soothing aftercare. You will receive Skinfuse® LIFT, a clean, non-cytotoxic hydrogel used to prevent the skin from drying out post-treatment.
An effective post-procedure protocol. We suggest recommending an aftercare regimen. Skinfuse, our 90-day protocol, is specifically formulated to support skin following microneedling.
