Microneedling | Montgomery

Microneedling treatment with SkinPen® by Bellus Medical is clinically proven to improve the appearance of facial acne scars for people aged 22 and above in all skin types. Here at The Medspa at Alabama Surgical Arts in Montgomery, Alabma, we have partnered with the only FDA approved microneedling device on the market to bring you the best available treatment.

SkinPen triggers the skin’s remodeling process by creating thousands of tiny micro-injuries in the dermis, generating new collagen without causing the formation of scar tissue.

Procedures typically take only 30 minutes, depending on the size treated and the desired results. Due to their non-invasive nature, microneedling sessions usually require little to no downtime for patients. Our patients love the benefits provided by SkinPen, especially when done with the extra PRF (protein rich fibrin) booster.

Microneedling

HOW MICRONEEDLING WORKS

The SkinPen® microneedling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodeling of collagen and elastin.

There are three phases to the wound repair process:

Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.

Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is re-built with new granulation cells, as well as a temporary (type III) collagen and elastin, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

Phase III: Remodeling. The wound has been replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels. The type III collagen in the newly formed tissue is replaced with stronger type I collagen, which can contract to create a tightening or “shrink wrap” effect on the skin.

The results? Clinically proven improvements in the appearance of facial acne scars for people aged 22 and up.

PRF Booster

Most people have heard of Kim Kardashian’s Vampire facial at this point. She underwent microneedling with PRP (protein rich plasma) which is harvested by a lab draw, spun down and reinfused into your skin during the microneeding session. We have found that instead of using PRP, which contains less growth factors and stem cells due to it’s double spin, that PRF is quickly taking its place.  It releases the growth factors over time, which means it could have longer-term benefits. The growth factors are what stimulate the stem cells that improve collagen and elastin in the skin. This has been a great method to help our patients take microneedling to the next level.

Here are some benefits that are offered from SkinPen treatments:

A plan for optimal results. A consult with a skin specialist will determine your needs. We may recommend a course of procedures based on your individual goals. Maintenance of the procedure might require multiple treatments.

A comfortable procedure. We will applying a topical numbing agent to the treatment area before each treatment.

A short procedure time. The treatment will likely take 30 minutes to one hour.

A mild sensation. Most of our patients report feeling only the slight vibration of SkinPen during the procedure.

Minimal post-procedure effects. The skin will appear slightly pink to red immediately post-procedure, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn for 24-48 hours.

Soothing aftercare.  You will receive Skinfuse® LIFT, a clean, non-cytotoxic hydrogel used to prevent the skin from drying out post-treatment.

An effective post-procedure protocol. We suggest recommending an aftercare regimen. Skinfuse, our 90-day protocol is specifically formulated to support skin following microneedling.
