Dermaplaning | Montgomery Alabama
Here at Alabama Surgical Arts, we care deeply about your skin. Dermaplaning is a popular treatment to add on to one of our facials or as a stand-alone treatment. We customize according to your skin type and goals when you come in for a complimentary consultation.
Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that involves a licensed professional gently scraping the surface of your skin with a sterilized surgical scalpel to remove dead skin. It also removes vellus hairs (peach fuzz) and makes your skin feel baby soft! You can expect your skincare to penetrate deeper and makeup to go on smoother. Typically after the age of 30, your skin cell cycle slows down and your skin starts to appear dull. This is one of the most effective treatments to help remove excess dead skin without using harsh exfoliators.
Most of our patients like to have dermaplaning performed prior to an event or paired with a different procedure such as a chemical peel or a facial.
How long before I can wear makeup?
Will my facial hair grow back thicker? My friends told me it would.
This is a very popular misconception or myth. Your vellus (baby) hairs will not grow back thicker because you can barely feel them now!
How often can I get dermaplaning?
We generally like to recommend every 2-4 weeks.
Does it hurt?
No, it is relaxing and you will want to have it done more often.
Should I put anything on my skin after dermaplaning?
Your skin might be slightly more sensitive to the sun after any exfoliating treatment. We recommend a good hyaluronic acid based product and some sunscreen!
What order do I do my at home care and how often?
Your at home care should be cleanse with a gentle cleanser, tone, moisturize, and sunscreen. You want to exfoliate at least 2-3 times a week. You want to make sure you keep your face clean, so do your at home regimen in the morning and before you go to bed.
